So, as I said, I put my SIM card into the backup phone I never got around to returning. All was well and good until this morning, when I realized I couldn't call, text or use the web browser. This despite having Wi-Fi enabled, including Wi-Fi calling, and being connected to my home internet. I couldn't turn on my mobile hot spot either, apparently due to... not being connected to my data plan? Idk. I tried some trouble-shooting before leaving for work but no dice. I used my breaks to contact customer support but their basic first steps didn't fix it and I was never connected to anyone for account verification to go more in-depth. I was able to get someone when I got home but that's still not gotten results.
The person chatting with me said that the mismatched phone/SIM card is to blame but, tbh, I'm skeptical. I mean, it's not like I didn't consider the possibility but the phone worked fine for two days. I know it worked for those two days, because I used it for those two days. Didn't see a point to not try, though, so I asked the agent if they could go ahead and register the other SIM card for me. They said sure aaand then it turned out they, uh. Couldn't. Can't, in fact. I'm not clear on why, they just said it's not allowed by the system. Even though I've had this phone and card registered to my number before?? They're checking something else for me now. I really hope this gets sorted soon, I'm sleepy :/
EDIT: THE CHAT JUST GOT CUT BECAUSE THEIR SERVICE HOURS END AT TWELVE. FFS.
