Now that the final numbers are in, we have one more post to wrap up GYWO 2019.

While we commend every writer who stuck with [community profile] getyourwordsout through the entire year, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate the writers who didn’t just stick with the community but who also achieved their pledged goal.

Below the cut is a list of the writers who met or surpassed 100% of their pledge. With their name is listed either the percentage they achieved or the number of additional days they wrote and when they completed their pledge. Come celebrate these writers for completing their GYWO challenge! (If you want to check out the amazing word count and day count totals, see the 2019 Pledge Progress Spreadsheet.)

We have now closed membership to this community for 2019. If you did not submit a completed pledge comment, you are not a member for 2019.

The GYWO moderators are thrilled to spend the next year writing with 660 writers.

Those who have come by too late, we appreciate your interest, and we hope that while you aren't able to join us officially, you'll make your own writing goals and achieve them. You’re welcome to subscribe to the community to keep a look out for 2020 news, or follow us on [twitter.com profile] gywo or [tumblr.com profile] gywo for prompts, writing advice, and resources. Pledging for 2020 will open in December 2019.

Have a great year!

All Users: If you do not currently have access to the community, check your inbox. We have PM’d everyone who has a problem with either their pledge or their membership. The PM will have more information about what you need to do to be a GYWO 2019 member.

Dreamwidth Users If you want to be a member of the community and have already pledged, please make sure your membership request has been approved or that you have accepted a member invitation sent by a moderator. You are a member of the DW community if your name appears in the Members list (scroll to the bottom of the page and look under “Members”). Your name MUST appear in the Members list if you wish to have access to the Dreamwidth community.

If your name is not in that list, please check to see if you have an invitation to accept or request membership.

If You Also Have a Livejournal If you also want to have access to the Livejournal administrative mirror, please check to see if you have an invitation to accept or request membership. You are already a member of the LJ community if your name appears in the Members list.

When sign-ups close end of day on Jan 15, that includes allowing people to request membership, so please act quickly to make sure you have access to the community/communities!

If you have not pledged, you must pledge before requesting membership.

You must have accepted or requested membership at either the LJ or DW community to be a member.

If you have pledged but don’t have membership, send a PM to [personal profile] gywomod. We may have a question about your pledge or need to vet your account.

IF YOU'RE HERE FOR 2021, one of our links is apparently a DeLorean and has delivered you to 2019. Please redirect your time machine to go BACK... to the present!
2021 Pledges & Requirements

GYWO is BACK for 2019! We’re starting our eleventh year-long writing challenge with ten pledges to help you challenge yourself, achieve your writing goals, and build a writing life.

Keep in mind that even our smallest goals require a serious commitment throughout the year. While it’s okay for writers to be behind or even entirely miss their pledge goal, we want you to pick a pledge that could be achievable for you and will keep you writing all year long. Before choosing your pledge, please take note of the few requirements we have of our members, and carefully consider which of the ten pledges you'd like to choose. You may only choose one pledge.

Membership Requirements & Information )

Pledge Types )

Pledging

If you pledged in a previous year, and didn't meet your goal, quit, or were removed from the comm for missing check-ins, you are welcome to pledge again.

When choosing your pledge, consider your personal writing habits and what you find most motivating. Will hitting your word count goal early help propel you to keep writing through the remainder of the year? Do you need a major challenge to keep you on pace? Have you surpassed smaller goals in previous years and need more of a challenge? Are you already writing multiple days a week? Make sure the pledge you make is one that will motivate you.

To make your pledge, there are two steps to complete: Pledge & Request.

Step 1: Pledge
Follow the link for your pledge to the appropriate post and leave a comment using the journal you intend to use to join the community. Cut and paste the form at the pledge post to ensure you’re leaving all of the information needed.

    Word Count Pledges
  • 75K words, the Light level, approximately 6.25K words/month, 205 words/day (reserved for members with significant impact to their writing time)
  • 150K words, the Modest level, approximately 12.5K words/month, 411 words/day
  • 200K words, the Basic level, approximately 16.6K words/month, 548 words/day
  • 250K words, the Moderate level, approximately 20.8K words/month, 685 words/day
  • 300K words, the Difficult level, approximately 25.0K words/month, 822 words/day
  • 350K words, the Insane level, approximately 29.1K words/month, 959 words/day
  • 500K words, the Ludicrous level, approximately 41.6K words/month, 1,370 words/day

  • Habit Pledges
  • 120 days, the Apprentice level, approximately 10 days/month
  • 240 days, the Journeyman level, approximately 20 days/month
  • 350 days, the Master level, approximately 29–30 days/month

  • Reminders: Sign up for only ONE pledge.
Sign up with only ONE account.
You may sign up using Dreamwidth or OpenID.
You may use a fic/writing journal instead of your personal one.
Include your username on the other platforms requested to have access everywhere.
If you have previously participated under a different username (or on Livejournal), please let us know so we can track our repeat members.

Step 2: Request
Once you have left your pledge comment, please request to join the community. We will approve memberships on January 1st (as we still have 2018 members scrambling to hit their goals!), but we'll hold you in the queue.
If you are a current member, you won’t need to request as you are already a member of the community.

If you’re concerned we didn’t receive your pledge: We will be updating the 2019 list in the profile as new members are verified. Please give us at least twenty-four hours from submitting your pledge before inquiring about your status. (Over the Christmas holiday we will not be vetting pledges, so please check back on Dec 27th.)

IMPORTANT: Anyone requesting to join the community who has not made a pledge will not be added. To ensure you are not left out, make your pledge first, then request to join.

You have until January 15, 2019 to make your pledge.
After that time you will NOT be able to change your pledge
or join the challenge, so think carefully before committing.
